Going out in Malaga

Malaga is a lovely city with nightlife to suit everyone

Malaga has become a lovely city with nightlife to suit everyone. Whether you want dinner and drinks or you want to dance until the early morning, you will find the perfect spot in Malaga. Discover the historic center, stroll through Malagueta, try the tapas in the vibrant neighborhood of Teatinos or dive into the nightlife and festive atmosphere of Los Alamos. Below are a list of suggestions for making the most of your nights in Malaga.

Historic center

The old city of Malaga is ideal for those who wish to stroll through and enjoy the most traditional area of the city. You can start with dinner at one of the many restaurants and tapas bars that you will find in the picturesque streets of the Malaga historic center. The options are infinite, from trendy fusion cuisine to traditional Malagan cuisine.

You can visit the area around calle Larios, calle Granada and Plaza de Uncibay, the area around the cathedral, calle Ollerías and Plaza de la Merced. The latter has a large variety of bars and pubs with outdoor terraces.

Culture lovers can also visit a number of theaters to see concerts and shows of all kinds, from established works to more original options. The Teatro Cervantes is a treasure, not just because of its shows, but because of its architecture. The Teatro Echegaray, smaller in size, also shows movies, documentaries, and more. The Teatro del Soho Caixabank is Antonio Banderas’ personal project to increase artistic offerings in Malaga. In the summer, the Teatro Romano offers a variety of programs with a venue for music, theater and dance. In the center, you will also find the Albéniz movie theater, which usually has cycles of themed cinema and plays classic titles, too.

La Malagueta

Going out in the neighborhood of La Malagueta allows you to enjoy the city’s nightlife beachside. There, you will find a number of different bars, restaurants and leisure spots. The Muelle Uno area is a must-visit. With its extensive culinary offering, it is the ideal place to have a drink or a good dinner while you take in the sunset over the port and the city.

On the other hand, without leaving the port area, you will find several very modern and cosmopolitan pubs at Palmeral de las Sorpresas where you can go to see and be seen. In this area, you will also find exclusive bars and restaurants where you can dance until the early morning or have a drink by the sea, as well as chic chiringuitos (beach huts) where you can taste innovative gastronomic creations.

Teatinos Neighborhood

Teatinos is the most characteristic university neighborhood of the city of Malaga, so it is the real nightlife hub, especially if what you are looking for is a young vibe, affordable prices and a wide variety of establishments. The arrival of the metro makes it even easier to access this lively neighborhood.

Teatinos is an expanding district that, on top of offering options for all audiences, stands out thanks to its wide variety of bars and pubs where you can enjoy a relaxed night with friends. You can start with any of the many bars that include tapas with your drink, and then visit one of the restaurants in the area, with options for every taste. Then, don’t hesitate to visit a lounge or pub where you can have a cold drink and listen to good music. Weather permitting, another feature of the Teatinos neighborhood is that it has a large number of ice cream shops: here you will find some of the most well-known shops in Malaga.

Los Alamos

Leaving the capital of Malaga, Los Alamos in Torremolinos is a popular tourism area that is known for its lively nightlife and festive atmosphere, although today you can find options for all ages.

This young, cosmopolitan area by the sea is centered on the beach of the same name. More than a kilometer long, it is known for its fine sand and for all the sports available there, from cycling to surfing, all year round. It is also full of beach clubs where you can dance on the sand and celebrate theme parties, concerts and sessions by renowned DJs. You can also visit relaxed terraces and restaurants with hammocks and Balinese beds: you can relax and breathe in the Mediterranean breeze while you enjoy a cocktail or a delicious dish.

Going out in Los Alamos combines beautiful beaches, delicious food, a vibrant nightlife and an international environment. If you like sun, fun and music, this area of the Costa del Sol is perfect for you.
