What to see and do in Tenerife

Tenerife offers something for everyone in an environment that perfectly combines natural beauty with colonial history.

On Tenerife, you will find dreamlike beaches, stunning lava landscapes, prehistoric forests, wild nature, charming fishing villages, and the towering Teide, which rises to 3,718 meters above sea level.

The island offers activities for all tastes, from eco-tourism in spectacular settings for adrenaline lovers to more relaxed options on paradisiacal beaches or cities that retain colonial charm.

Visit Teide National Park

 Teide National Park

Teide is Spain’s highest mountain at 3,718 meters and a symbol of Tenerife. The surrounding natural park, full of intriguing nooks, endemic species, and winding flora, has been declared a World Heritage Site. As the third tallest dormant volcano in the world, ascending Teide is a must-do activity when visiting the island. Keep in mind that hiking to the top requires good physical condition. However, you can take a cable car to enjoy the breathtaking views.

The Tenerife coastline is renowned for its spectacular volcanic landscapes and rich marine life. The favorable weather conditions throughout the year make sailing possible in any season. Ask your hotel for organized excursions to explore the most beautiful coastal areas of Tenerife.

Visit Loro Parque

Located in Puerto de la Cruz, Loro Parque is one of the best eco-tourism experiences for families. It began as a small show of European parrots, in the middle of a lush botanical garden. Today it is the largest amusement park in the Canary Islands and its gardens feature the most advanced facilities in the world for housing other species such as dolphins, orcas, sea lions, penguins and tigers. The park offers a variety of educational activities, restaurants, cafes, rest areas, and gift shops, ensuring an unforgettable family day out.

Dolphin watching tour

The Canary Islands’ waters are perfect for spotting marine life, especially whales and dolphins, which are attracted by the warm waters year-round. The warm waters attract pods of whales and dolphins throughout the year, which can be easily spotted from a boat or catamaran. The island is dedicated to environmental preservation and the protection of these animals. Swimming with wild dolphins is prohibited, but you can easily spot them by booking a professional Blue Flag-certified tour.
